Under 1000kcal a day - but not starving

Originally on CalorieCount:

I'm currently on a diet where I'm eating under 1000kcal a day. This does seem very little, but since I've decided to order food from a vegan place, it has been more doable. Before I only had a raw salad for lunch and I was constantly hungry. Now, I eat a good mix of vegetables and some good grains. These grains, while filling are actually low in calorie. But what does fit into 1000kcal?
All the measurements are in grams.

Breakfast
Coffee, Instant - With Sugar, Cappuccino-flavor PowderC+ 14g 57kcal
Lactose-Free Skim Milk - RichfoodB+ 24cl 90kcal
Bread, Whole-wheat, Commercially PreparedA 56g 138kcal
Light Cherry Jam - Vitamor10g 11kcal
See, breakfast is not bad. I even get some sugar in there. 296kcal.

Lunch
Bulgur, CookedA- 150g 125kcal
Peas, Green - Frozen, Cooked, Boiled, Drained, With SaltA 180g 140kcal
Carrots - Cooked, Boiled, Drained, With Salt A 10g 4kcal

Lunch today was one of my favourite wheats, bulgur. 150g of it is quite a lot and only 125kcal. The same amount of white rice is 200kcal, brown 167kcal, millet 179kcal. So my lunch is 269kcal. Now I can't put completely everything there from the ingredients list, but most of the other stuff, like seasonings, a dash of olive oil and a bit of soy milk are so minimal, that I generally just give it an extra 100kcal to cover them and stay on the safe side. So that is 369kcal total. The bulgur fills my stomach very nicely and postpones hunger.

That is 665kcal total and I already ate twice.

However, all dieting and no exercise is not good for you. I'm a belly dancer, so that is my activity. Don't confuse advanced belly dancing training with what you see on stage. To get there, you have to go through a lot of stretching, muscle work, working on movements, so it's not that simple. Today is a special day, I have double classes. I generally just do one, which is like 80 minutes with a break. Since today I have two, that amounts to about 150 minutes.

General - Greek, Middle Eastern, Hula, Flamenco, Belly, and Swing Dancing150 minutes, 810kcal
Have I just burned more calories than I ate? Not counting the calories my body naturally burns? Wow. Of course, I only dance 3 times a week, there are no classes on the other days. When I don't dance, I run for 2x30 minutes. That equals 1 hour, which is:
Running - 5 mph (12 Min/mile)60minutes, 576kcal
A bit more for an hour than what I would get dancing, but dancing is love, running is exercise. BTW, I run in one place in front of the TV thanks to my Wii Fit.

Now comes dinner. I generally don't make a fuss. I either have just a glass of warm milk:
Lactose-Free Skim Milk - RichfoodB+ 240cl 90kcal
Oh, I actually use a Hungarian brand of milk, but this one has about the same stats.
Or if I feel like it, I add some sour cherries to it, frozen. That one already has the seeds out and you just mix.
Cherries, Sour, Red - Frozen, UnsweetenedA 20g 9kcal
If I want to eat something sweet, then I may add these to the mix as well:
Honey, Strained Or ExtractedC- 21g 64kcal
Cocoa, Dry Powder, UnsweetenedA- 11g 25kcal
If my daily calorie intake allows.
If I do get really hungry before going off to dancing, then I have emergency provisions:
Corn Rice Cake20g 75kcal
Of course, if I have that, then no honey in my dinner.

So that is about 1000kcal a day. Not so bad. Even had sugar!

So you may all think I'm insane. However, I gained weight when I ate 1300kcal. So obviously, my body doesn't need much. I'm 5'5" (165cm) and 155 (70.7kg) pounds. That's overweight. In the past 4 weeks of living like this, I lost 2 pounds (1kg). Yay me.
