The Aros Center, Portree

Sunday. On Sundays no buses run on Skye. So I decided to stay in Portree. The whole place is not that big, so I’ve already seen most of it. The weather was pretty bad, strong winds and rain.
On my way out I realised I had left my cap in the room. The day before I forgot it and when the rain was really bad, I could have used it. So I went back to get it. I ran into the wife and she told me about the Aros Center.
It’s a tourist center with a restaurant, shop, cinema, internet. Only four computers, but mostly unused, probably because not many know about it.
She explained where it was and I decided to check it out. It was quite a long way, mostly uphill, but I kept on walking. I did consider turning back a couple of times or thought that perhaps I had misunderstood something and went the wrong way. But the scenery was nice from up there and the rain occasionally let up as well.
Once there I could get on the internet. No USB, so I couldn’t connect my camera and upload my pictures. Still,
at least I could write my emails and type in the first day of my blog. I was on the internet for three hours, but only paid for one. No one checked up on me and there was no counter that would indicate how long I had been on the computer.
I checked out the shop, but didn’t buy anything. I also had a meal in the restaurant. It was beef with gravy, potatoes and steamed vegetables, plus a Yorkshire pudding. I wanted to drink beer, but no beer on Sundays until 14:30. Scottish laws... The food was okay, though nothing to rave about. It was a bit too much, I left some of the potato. It wasn’t terribly expensive either.
I headed back to the B&B when I got bored, but I thought about going into town for a bit. It was raining on and off and sometimes the wind picked up as well. I decided that when I got to the junction that leads to the center or the B&B and it would rain hard and the wind blew strongly, I’d return to the room. Just as I reached the junction, the weather became awful, so
I took that as a sign and decided to have an early night. I was still a bit tired from the past three days and my thighs were aching from the use I put them through the day before.
